Immerse yourself in the nature of the dramatic and beautiful Icelandic Westfjords on this scenic hiking tour between the picturesque fjords Patreksfjörður and Tálknafjörður. No keen hikers and mountaineers travelling in West Iceland should let this exciting opportunity pass them by.
Your journey begins as you get picked up at your accommodation (given that you are residing close enough to the fjord village Patreksfjörður) or when you meet with your guide at the designated location. Your guide will be a friendly and experienced local, who will happily make sure your day will be unforgettably picturesque.
Then, it’s time to lace up your hiking boots and begin trekking the old mountain route between the stunning fjords of Patreksfjörður and Tálknafjörður, both of which are swept with a fascinating local history of sailors and merchants from days long gone.
Once you reach the beautiful hill known as Lambeyrarháls, your hike continues to your next destination of Suðureyri, an authentic Icelandic fishing village where Norwegians ran a historical whaling station around the year 1900.
This charming village is also home to a famous ground depression, believed by the locals to be an ancient settlement of Elves. According to legend, if travellers lie down to rest in the middle of this depression, they are destined to have their future appear to them as they dream.
Your hiking excursion concludes amidst the fantastic scenery of Tálknafjörður fjord, which is incredibly rich with birdlife. Naturally, you are advised to bring your camera along for all the fantastic photo opportunities enabling you to bring the Westfjords back home with you.
At your final destination, you will find a minivan waiting to drive you back to Patreksfjörður.
