Don't miss out on your chance to witness the many cultural attractions of Iceland's capital, Reykjavík, with this guided tour of the city and its surroundings. This tour is the perfect opportunity for travellers looking for a deeper insight and education into the Reykjavík's culture and history.
In Reykjavik, you'll visit such attractions as the dome-shaped Perlan Museum and observation deck, where you'll be privy to amazing views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean. You can also learn about Iceland's glaciers, ice caves and glacial springs through the museum's educational exhibitions.
You'll also see Höfði House, where Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev met in 1986 to unsuccessfully negotiate an end to the Cold War. Today, this house is reputed to be haunted and, unfortunately, cannot be visited inside (though you're free to press your noses up against the window)!
You will see the major attractions too, such as Hallgrímskirkja, the Lutheran Church famed for its distinctive architecture, inspired by Iceland's basalt rock formations. Visitors to the church can climb the bell tower in order to achieve fantastic views of the city and from such a vantage point, Reykjavík's colourful tin roofs appear like a patchwork quilt.
Other attractions available to you are Tjörnin, the city pond, and the adjacent City Hall, with its concrete modernist architecture, as well as the glassy and impressive Harpa Concert Hall.
You will also visit the centre of Reykjavík where you will witness the Parliament buildings, many restaurants, cafes and shops, as well the city's quintessential Old Harbour and the University Campus. Quite frankly, after a day's sightseeing, you'll know more about the city than many of the locals do.
