This day tour is going to start in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, passing through the Nesjavellir Road. This offers a chance to view a remarkable volcano formed naturally. We are also going to make a stop in the Nesjavellir geothermal region, where the capital's surroundings become increasingly hot.
From there, we will move on to Þingvellir National Park, which is situated between two tectonic plates. The western part is on the American Plate, while the eastern part is on the Eurasian Plate. Þingvellir National Park is a significant and historically important site. The most notable features here, however, are the ancient parliament and church. It is worth noting that, in English, Þingvellir means "assembly plains."
Continue the tour to the town of Laugarvatn and then to Geysir. Many tourists are unaware that the term "geyser" is actually Icelandic. Therefore, Yellowstone acquired its name from Iceland's natural phenomena. In fact, the original Geysir, which is ancient, is no longer active. However, visitors and locals have noticed that its activity could potentially be enhanced to make it vibrant again.
A few metres from Geysir is Strokkur, which erupts every 6–8 minutes. Our visitors will take a break in the Geysir area for some coffee or brunch, and thereafter, we will proceed to Gullfoss, which features one of Iceland's loveliest waterfalls. This will be the easternmost point of this day tour.
Therefore, on the way back, we are going to make a stop at Kerið Crater, which is open to visitors 24 hours a day. The next stop we make will be in the town of Hveragerði. From there, we will drive to the southwest coast of Iceland, toward the Reykjanes Peninsula, where we will find the Blue Lagoon at the edge of Grindavík town.
The Blue Lagoon is an exceptional area offering natural wonders. Located against a lovely lava valley, its warm, creamy-blue waters invite visitors to take a dip in this world-famous geothermal pool. When the outside temperature is 5°C, making it chilly, the warm waters of the lagoon can offer a wonderful treat.
