Package Itinerary

Combine two Icelandic adventures into a single day, with this ATV and whale watching excursion. This tour should not be missed by nature-lovers or those who like to get their adrenaline pumping.

You’ll be picked up from Reykjavík in the morning, and driven just fifteen minutes out of the city to the ATV base camp. Here, you will be equipped with a helmet, gloves and overalls, and introduced to your vehicle. To operate a quad bike you need a driver’s license, but those as young as six can join as a passenger.

Your ATV ride will take you Úlfarsfell, a stunning mountain just outside the city, which you will ascend via rocky trails. You can expect to see beautiful lakes, expanses of lava, ranges of volcanoes and stunning countryside. At the peak, you will have a marvellous photo opportunity, and if you are sharing your ATV, can switch driver if you want.

After you return your quad-bike to the base camp, you will return to your van and be whisked to Reykjavík harbour. You’ll have time for lunch here, where you can admire the marina and glistening ocean.

Once the time comes, you will board your whale watching vessel, and set out into Faxaflói bay. The surrounding nature, of tabletop mountains and rows of volcanoes, will captivate you until the great whales begin to surface.

The most common species seen from Reykjavík are the minke whale, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises, but humpback whales are very common in summer, as are puffins. You may also see orcas, blue, fin and sei whales, and a wealth of other seabirds.

While sightings are expected on every tour, if you are not lucky enough to spot a whale you can try again for free. The same applies if weather stops you leaving the harbour.
