Jump aboard and explore many of Iceland's most stunning natural attractions with this immersive tour to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This trip should not be missed by those seeking to witness this nation’s beautiful volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls and coastal landscapes within a day.

You will be picked up by a minibus from Reykjavík early, meet your guides and group, and head north from the capital region. The countryside en route to Snæfellsnes is rural and picturesque, with many quaint towns and beautiful ocean views.

As soon as you reach the Peninsula the landscapes will be much more dramatic. A range of mountains runs to the west, surrounded by a craggy coastline. You will start by traversing the southern side, which is lined with features all the way to the crowning glacier and volcano, Snæfellsjökull.

You will see the charming fishing villages of Búðir, Arnarstapi and Hellnar, the gorge of Rauðfeldsgjá, the seal-watching beach Ytri Tunga, and, most impressively, the Lóndrangar basalt plugs. This latter feature is renowned for its spectacular geology as well as its population of birds.

You will then enter Snæfellsjökull National Park, in full view of the mighty glacier. This great landmark has inspired artists since it was first seen.

As you move over to the northern side of the peninsula, you will be able to see more fishing villages and will have an excellent view over the largest fjord in Iceland, Breiðafjörður. If you are lucky, you may see orcas in the waters, and they regularly travel through this area.

Your main and final destination here, however, is Mount Kirkjufell. Often called Iceland’s most photographed mountain, it juts out dramatically from the coast, and is positioned right beside the charming waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss. You will have plenty of time to admire and photograph this charming feature, before getting back in the van.

Before taking the scenic drive back to Reykjavík, however, you are invited to join a traditional meal with some locals, making for the perfect way to immerse yourself in Icelandic culture.
