Join this tour to explore the beautiful Diamond Circle and see some of the most secluded locations in northern Iceland. Nature lovers should not miss out on seeing magnificent waterfalls, serene lakes, and majestic canyons on this tour.

You'll be picked up in the town of Akureyri in the North, and driven to your first location; Europe's most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss. This majestic cascade is 100 metres (328 ft) wide and plunges down 45 metres (150 ft) to the beautiful Jökulsárgljúfur canyon.

From there you'll move on to another waterfall, Selfoss. Although smaller, this cascade is no less spectacular, where the water flows over black volcanic rocks down into a deep basin.

Next up you'll get to explore the impressive Ásbyrgi canyon, one of Iceland's most beloved natural attractions. This stunning canyon is shaped like a horseshoe and is surrounded by cliffs reaching as high as 100 m (328 ft).

Inside the canyon is a gorgeous valley, and hidden between the high, green grass and tall fir trees is Botnstjörn, a beautiful lake which many waterbirds call home.

Though we now know that Ásbyrgi was likely formed by glacial flooding after the last Ice Age, local legend holds that this is the footprint of Óðinn’s eight-legged horse, Sleipnir.

If road conditions are favourable, you'll also be able to visit Hljóðaklettar, or 'echo cave'. This cave, inaccessible during the harsh winter months, is formed by a peculiar clustering of basalt columns, which have twisted over and around each other to form a hollow in the rock. Its acoustics are something to experience.

In springtime, you can visit Tjörnes, where hundreds of puffins and rock ptarmigans nest. After the tour, there will be a short coffee stop at the quaint village Húsavík before returning to Akureyri.
