Explore the internal wonders of the Earth on this deep-caving adventure into the lava tube Víðgelmir, the largest one of its kind in Iceland. If you want to witness first-hand the effects of a volcanic eruption in the land of ice and fire, this is the tour to top your travel experience.
You’ll meet up with your local guide at the Víðgelmir Parking Lot, but the cave is located in the scenic Borgarfjörður Fjord in West Iceland. Víðgelmir is part of the lava field Hallmundarhraun, a vast and rugged landscape formed in a volcanic eruption around the year 900 AD.
Your guide will inform you all about the history of the natural wonder you are about to visit and provide you with all the proper safety instructions and caving equipment, including a helmet and headlamp.
