Join this exciting rafting tour on the beautiful Hvita river available from Drumboddsstaðir rafting base camp. Enjoy the Icelandic nature in an entirely different way by cruising down a glacier river. This is a fun-filled adventure tour that is perfect for the entire family. During this tour you will experience the splashing waves and surging rapids as you travel down Hvíta River through impressive canyons and incredible scenery. The river feeds one of the most visited attractions in Iceland, namely the gorgeous Gullfoss Waterfall (The Golden Waterfall).
The source of the river Hvíta is Iceland's second largest glacier, Langjökull, located in the country's highlands. The river rushes southwards with a balance of relaxing calming waters and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids.
Your adventure starts at Drumboddsstaðir (or Drumbó) rafting base camp where you will be provided with all necessary equipment and guidance to be able to enjoy the rafting experience to the fullest.
Along the way, you'll sail past stunning scenery and incredible landscapes that the roaring river has been creating over centuries. You'll discover places such as the majestic canyon Brúarhlóð where you'll see how the water has sculpted the breccia walls of the canyon into amazing rock formations.
If the conditions are right, participants will have the option of swimming in the glacial river and even jump from a cliff into the Brúarhlóð canyon.
When you get back to the base camp at Drumbó, you'll have the chance to warm up in the free hot showers and sauna after your adventure in the glacial river. Drumbó also has a restaurant that serves coffee, drinks and twice a day has a delicious barbeque which can be added as an extra.
